Football Recap: Renaissance Falls to Grosse Pointe South in First Game of Season

Renaissance kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They were dealt a 49-0 defeat at the hands of the Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils. The Phoenix have struggled against the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Sam Rouleau looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 14 yards and two scores, while also throwing for 79 yards and one touchdown. Those 79 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Andrew Wilson was another key player, rushing for 34 yards and a pair of TDs.

Coming up, Renaissance will be playing in front of their home fans against Kalamazoo Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Grosse Pointe South, they will venture away from home to face off against Romeo at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.
