Softball Recap: Hillsboro's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Hillsboro came tearing into Friday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Circleville Tigers get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. This was payback for the Indians, who suffered a 6-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The result came thanks to Camryn Spruell's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Hillsboro's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Choe Roberts, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Hillsboro's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Circleville, they moved to 11-15 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Hillsboro nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
