Basketball Recap: Kokomo Beats Fort Wayne Wayne for Their Third Straight Victory

Kokomo waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 63-52 victory over the Fort Wayne Wayne Generals.

Kokomo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Makaela Drake, who went 8 for 14 on her way to 21 points. Amara Stroman was another key player, putting up 11 points and six rebounds.

Kokomo smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 18 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Fort Wayne Wayne saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Davianna Irons dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Irons. The team also got some help courtesy of Tani Hairston, who posted ten points.

Kokomo has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Fort Wayne Wayne, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-5.

Kokomo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 61-45 defeat against Northeastern on the 27th. As for Fort Wayne Wayne, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-49 win against Shelbyville on the 27th.
