Soccer Recap: Burges Comes Up Short

Burges lost against El Paso back in March of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Burges Mustangs came up short against the El Paso Tigers, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 407th, while the Tigers are ranked 101st).

Burges has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season. As for El Paso, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-2-1.

Looking ahead, Burges is taking a road trip to challenge Chapin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chapin has three straight victories, Burges has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch. As for El Paso, they will welcome Canutillo at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in El Paso's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Canutillo has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
