Recap: Perry Panthers vs. Medina Battling Bees

The Perry Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. The game between them and Medina wasn't particularly close, with Perry falling 54-38. While losing is never fun, Perry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 371st, while Medina is ranked 130th).
Despite the loss, Perry saw an underclassman step up: Nico Martelli almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Martelli pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Darnell Mcleod, who scored six points.
Perry dropped their record down to 4-14 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Medina, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.
Perry will head out on the road to take on Jackson at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Jackson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully Perry likes a good challenge. As for Medina, they will be playing at home against Strongsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Strongsville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last ten matches.
