Basketball Game Preview: Perry Meridian Falcons vs. Greenwood Woodmen

Perry Meridian is 2-8 against Greenwood since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Perry Meridian Falcons will challenge the Greenwood Woodmen at 7:30 p.m. Perry Meridian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Wednesday, Perry Meridian came up short against Franklin Central and fell 65-57. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Flashes are ranked 105th).

Meanwhile, Greenwood entered their game against Decatur Central on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Greenwood fell 76-68 to Decatur Central. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (57), the Woodmen still had to take the loss.

Perry Meridian will need focus on slowing down Isaac O'Neal, one of several Greenwood players who made an impact when they last played. He went 7 of 10 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points. Another player making a difference was Parker Doolin, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Greenwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Greenwood's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6. As for Perry Meridian, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

Perry Meridian came up short against Greenwood in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 58-48. Can Perry Meridian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
