Baseball Game Preview: Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains vs. St. Paul Flyers

The Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains will face off against the St. Paul Flyers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Hopewell-Loudon is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Carey 4-3.

The team relied heavily on Cohen Sendelbach, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Daniel, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, St. Paul had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They never let Port Clinton get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory on Saturday.

The result came thanks to Alex Marsh's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, St. Paul saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Thurston, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Hopewell-Loudon came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Paul when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Does Hopewell-Loudon have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. Paul turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
