Softball Recap: Christchurch School Seahorses vs. Saint Gertrude Gators
After flying high against Miller School of Albemarle on Monday, Christchurch School came back down to earth. The Seahorses fell just short of the Saint Gertrude Gators by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Seahorses, who fell 6-4 when the teams last met back in April of 2024.
Alivia Bruce was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Avery Thomas was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Christchurch School's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Saint Gertrude, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.
