Softball Recap: Christchurch School Takes a Loss

After flying high against Miller School of Albemarle on Monday, Christchurch School came back down to earth. The Seahorses fell just short of the Saint Gertrude Gators by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Seahorses, who fell 6-4 when the teams last met back in April of 2024.

Alivia Bruce was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Avery Thomas was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Christchurch School's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Saint Gertrude, their victory bumped their record up to 7-8.

Coincidentally, Christchurch School and Saint Gertrude will both be playing Collegiate the next time they take the field. The Seahorses will head out to face the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Gators will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on the 29th.
