Preview: Chittenango Bears vs. Institute of Tech Eagles
Chittenango is 8-1 against the Eagles since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Chittenango Bears will be playing at home against the Institute of Tech Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Chittenango scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 91-38 win over Cortland at home. Chittenango has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.
Chittenango's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Brendon Barnard, who scored 18 points, and Ryan Moesch, who scored 30 points. Moesch is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 21 every time he's taken the court this season. Bernardo Bortovski was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Institute of Tech was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 63-57 to the Warriors. While losing is never fun, Institute of Tech can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Warriors are ranked 34th).
Chittenango pushed their record up to 12-5 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.8 points per game. As for Institute of Tech, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.
Chittenango beat the Eagles 83-76 in their previous matchup back in January. Will Chittenango repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
