Softball Recap: North Port Takes a Loss

The matchup between North Port and Sarasota on Thursday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Bobcats came up short against the Sailors, falling 18-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bobcats have suffered since March 4th.

Cailinne Kelly was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Kaitlin Kohlenberg was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

North Port moved to 7-7 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Sarasota, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

North Port will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Port Charlotte at 7:00 p.m. As for Sarasota, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 4-3 victory against Riverview Sarasota on the 11th.
