Softball Recap: Baldwin County Takes a Loss

After flying high against Gulf Shores last Thursday, Baldwin County came back down to earth. The Baldwin County Tigers fell just short of the Daphne Trojans by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost four in a row.

Madilyn Byrd spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Baldwin County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madisyn Williams, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Baldwin County's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Daphne, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.

Looking ahead, Baldwin County will head out to face off against McGill-Toolen at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Baldwin County is facing McGill-Toolen at the right time seeing as McGill-Toolen is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Daphne, they will challenge Arlington at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
