Football Recap: Muenster Takes Down Gruver in a Playoff Battle

Muenster had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victor by a 49-26 margin over the Gruver Greyhounds on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won 12 matchups by 23 points or more so far this season.

Casen Carney continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 158 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also throwing for 151 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 passes. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in October.

Despite the loss, Gruver still got an impressive performance from Briggs Satterfield, who threw for 162 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 99 yards and one touchdown. Another player making a difference was Brock Butler, who picked up 71 receiving yards and one touchdown.

The win (which was Muenster's 11th in a row) raised their record to 13-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.9 points per game. As for Gruver, with the defeat, they broke their 14-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-1.

Muenster and Shiner will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shiner will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Muenster surely won't give up without a fight. Gruver does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
