Midtown faced Pace Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Midtown came up short against Pace Academy, falling 3-0. Midtown's defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-17, 25-17.

Brennan Fritts paced Midtown's offense, picking up eight kills. Fritts got some help from Lucy Konisky and her 19 assists. Fritts also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Julianna Richman, each putting up three.

Britton McGurn was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had four digs and two aces. What's more, she racked up 20 assists, the most she's had since back in August.

Midtown's loss dropped their record down to 33-10. As for Pace Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 21 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Midtown nor Pace Academy have any future games scheduled.
