Volleyball Recap: Vanguard Academy Falls to Waterford in First Game of Season

Vanguard Academy had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 3-0 to the Waterford Ravens on Tuesday. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Vanguard Academy took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-13, 25-19.

Madelyn Bryant paced Vanguard Academy's offense, picking up five kills. Bryant got some help from Embrey Young and her four assists.

Waterford moved to 4-6 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Coming up, Vanguard Academy will challenge Salt Lake Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give the Knights their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Waterford, they will face off against St. Joseph at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
