Softball Recap: Northridge Sets Scoring Season-High Against Northwood

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northridge). They blew past the NorthWood Panthers 18-7 on Wednesday. Considering the Raiders have won three games by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Willow Staley, who went 3-for-5 with four runs and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Leighla Winchester also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Northridge was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .447. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Northridge now has a winning record of 4-3. As for NorthWood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Northridge will be playing in front of their home fans against Dowagiac at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Chieftains will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something the Raiders surely won't give up without a fight. As for NorthWood, they are taking a road trip to take on Wawasee at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
