Basketball Game Preview: Highland Hawks vs. Faith Lutheran Crusaders

Two dominant guards in Peyton Jacobsen and Emma Herpin are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Highland Hawks and the Faith Lutheran Crusaders will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Highland's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.

Highland will head into Wednesday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 24-point drubbing they dealt Huntington Beach on Wednesday. Highland put the hurt on Huntington Beach with a sharp 58-34 victory. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 24 points or more this season.

Emilee Searle had a dynamite game for Highland, going 8 for 15 on her way to 19 points in addition to six assists and six steals. Those six assists gave Searle a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacobsen, who went 6 for 9 on her way to 14 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, it was close, but Faith Lutheran ultimately received the gift of a 40-38 win from a begrudging Crusaders squad.

The victory got Faith Lutheran back to even at 5-5. As for Highland, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
