Softball Recap: East Hardy Comes Up Short

East Hardy extended their losing streak to nine on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-9 in the process. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Berkeley Springs Indians. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Ginger Combs spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, East Hardy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor McReynolds, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Addison Armentrout also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Berkeley Springs, their record is now 5-11. They haven't had any issues with East Hardy recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

On Berkeley Springs' side, Alaira Harrington was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Harrington was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

East Hardy will take on Digital Harbor at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Berkeley Springs, they have already played their next matchup, a 19-0 defeat against Boonsboro on the 19th.
