Baseball Game Preview: Patterson Clippers vs. Dunbar Poets

The Patterson Clippers will challenge the Dunbar Poets at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Patterson has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Carver Vo-Tech hit Patterson with a five-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Clippers fell 13-9 to the Bears. The Clippers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Dunbar won against Douglass on Thursday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Poets put the hurt on Edmondson-Westside with a sharp 14-4 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Poets, who have now won three matches in a row.

Griffin Wildey made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Wildey was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Dunbar got a massive performance out of Zion Foster, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Amanuel Seyoum was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Dunbar always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Patterson's loss dropped their record down to 3-2-1. As for Dunbar, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
