Basketball Game Preview: Pawhuska Huskies vs. Webster Warriors

The Pawhuska Huskies will be taking part in a tournament against the Webster Warriors at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Pawhuska was able to grind out a solid victory over Newkirk, taking the game 51-41. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Huskies.

Pawhuska relied on the efforts of Dax Godsey, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 18 points, and Darien West, who went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. Lane Kyler was another key player, putting up six points.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Webster ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They slipped by McLain Science & Tech 45-44.

Webster's win came from a few key players Pawhuska will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Terrance Franklin, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hondo Avington, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Pawhuska pushed their record up to 5-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Webster, their victory bumped their record up to 7-9.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Pawhuska has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 24.6 rebounds per game.
