Basketball Recap: Atwater Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Atwater has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 58-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the El Capitan Gauchos on Wednesday. The match was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but the Falcons couldn't quite close it out.

Anthony Jones had a dynamite game for El Capitan, going 10 for 16 on his way to 19 points and six boards. That's the most points Jones has posted since back in December of 2023. Zach Hunter was another key player, putting up eight points.

Atwater's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3. As for El Capitan, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-7.

Atwater wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 55-37 defeat against Merced on the 24th. As for El Capitan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-52 win against Golden Valley on the 24th.
