Baseball Recap: Omaha Northwest Comes Up Short

Omaha Northwest extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 4-15. They lost 12-1 to the Auburn Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Huskies of the 6-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Omaha Northwest saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oliver Dalrymple, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that Dalrymple has hit this season.

As for Auburn, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games.

On Auburn's side, Mason Schultz made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Schultz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Auburn let Gavin Bauer and Jackson Warner run wild. Bauer went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Warner got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Warner has posted since back in April of 2025.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Omaha Northwest is set to square off against their familiar foe Benson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Auburn will challenge rival Fairbury at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
