            Baseball Recap: Doane Academy vs. Maple Shade Wildcats        
        
		
        
        
            After flying high against Palmyra  on Wednesday, Doane Academy came back down to earth. Doane Academy fell just short of the Maple Shade Wildcats by a score of  4-2 on Thursday. The  matchup marked Doane Academy's lowest-scoring  game so far this season.
 Jacob Powell was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He  struck out seven batters over  five innings while giving up just two earned  (and two unearned) runs off   three  hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't  tossed less than seven  strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with three  stolen bases and one  run.

Having lost for the first time  this season, Doane Academy  fell to 12-1. As for Maple Shade, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.
 Looking ahead, Doane Academy will face off against Riverside at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Maple Shade has  already played their next  contest (against Pennsauken), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
