Softball Recap: Montgomery Catholic Takes a Loss

Montgomery Catholic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 8-5 to the Benjamin Russell Wildcats. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Peyton Dees made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Fitts, who scored three runs and stole a base.

Montgomery Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Benjamin Russell, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-12-1.

Looking ahead, Montgomery Catholic will face off against Chilton County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Benjamin Russell, they will square off against Dothan at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
