Softball Recap: Tremont Makes It Three in a Row on the Road

Tremont had won three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 6-8 to make it four. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons. The victory continues a trend for the Turks in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won six in a row.

Maddie Feagin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Feagin wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Audrey Parn, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

On Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley's side, Mallory Rosendahl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. Rosendahl has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Coming up, Tremont will face off against Tri-Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, they will challenge Prairie Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
