On FridayGranada Hills Charter kept up with Birmingham until halftime, but afterwards: not so much. The Birmingham Patriots' defense stepped up to hand the Granada Hills Charter Highlanders a 3-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won ten matches by three goals or more so far this season.

The victory (which was Birmingham's third in a row) raised their record to 16-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three contests. As for Granada Hills Charter, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-5-2.

Birmingham and Granada Hills Charter should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Birmingham will challenge Chatsworth at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday up 593 places (6 vs. 599). Similarly, Granada Hills Charter (ranked 218th) will meet Taft (ranked 613th) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
