Covenant Christian extended the longest winning streak in TAPPS Division III District 2 this week by beating Gainesville State, 61-0. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Legacy Christian Academy led the league in scoring this week after putting up 64 points on Coram Deo Academy. Ovie Urevbu ran for 266 yards in the win.
McKinney Christian Academy's dynamic duo of Dallas Brock and Connor Doyle proved tough for Rockwall Christian to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Brock threw for 252 yards and two touchdowns and Doyle had 141 yards receiving. Sky Walker helped McKinney Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching two balls for 48 yards.
Covenant Christian's Kade Thomas and Trey Jackson have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Thomas has thrown for 1205 yards this season, while Jackson has 22 catches for 444 yards. Urevbu from the Eagles leads the league in rushing with 1360 yards.
The Mustangs' Doyle needs only 98 yards against the Cougars next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 112 carries Doyle has accumulated 902 yard this year.
A big matchup in TAPPS Division III District 2 this week will be when McKinney Christian Academy takes on Covenant Christian. At the moment, Rodney Doyle's team is in third, while the Cougars are in first.
The Mustangs made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,868 from 13,275. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 38-20 victory over the Warriors last week.
