Baseball Game Preview: Pickerington North Panthers vs. Lincoln Lions

Pickerington North and Lincoln are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Panthers will head out to face off against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Pickerington North will be strutting in after a win while Lincoln will be coming in after a defeat.

Pickerington North had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Central Crossing on Thursday. The Panthers never let the Comets get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Considering the Panthers have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Pickerington North got a great performance from Quinn Chappelear as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. What's more, Chappelear posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

On the hitting side, Brent Parsons was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nic Markle, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Pickerington North was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Crossing only posted a batting average of .067.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Lincoln was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell just short of Westerville Central by a score of 3-1. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Warhawks recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

The win got Pickerington North back to even at 9-9. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.

Pickerington North took their victory against Lincoln in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 12-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
