Preview: Cistercian Hawks vs. Houston Christian Mustangs
The Cistercian Hawks will head out on the road to face off against the Houston Christian Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cistercian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 963rd, while Houston Christian is ranked 411th).
After soaring to 37 points the game before, Cistercian were a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 37-3 loss at the hands of Fort Worth Country Day.
Meanwhile, Houston Christian strolled past Cooper with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 28-14.
Houston Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bret Kilchrist, who threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns while completing 82.8% of his passes. Houston Christian also got help from Jack Henning who showed off his sure hands for 95 receiving yards.
Cistercian has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost seven of their first eight contests, which leaves them at a 1-7 record this season. Houston Christian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Cistercian strolled past Houston Christian in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a score of 45-28. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cistercian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
