Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ashley). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Fike Golden Demons 45-42.

Ashley's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bryson Lovelace, who rushed for 174 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Karter Krowl was another key signal caller, throwing for 150 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Ashley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 271 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fike only rushed for 176 rushing yards.

Despite the loss, Fike still got an impressive performance from Sam Finch, who rushed for 115 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 320 yards and two TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes. The Golden Demons' leading receiver Darryl Loatman was Finch's top target yet again, picking up 168 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Ashley's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Fike, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Ashley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 24-6 victory against Topsail on the 19th. As for Fike, they have also already played their next matchup, a 42-14 defeat against Rocky Mount on the 19th.
