Basketball Recap: Banff Find Success

On Thursday, the Banff Bears slipped by the Spring Baptist Academy Royals 47-46.

Banff found their leader in freshman Issac Sumpter, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. Sumpter is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last four games he's played. Jayden Oriedetu was another key player, putting up six points and eight rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Spring Baptist Academy lost, don't look at Tommy Wright. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 15 on his way to 21 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jaxton Doelitsch, who posted 14 points and five rebounds.

Banff's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Spring Baptist Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Banff will venture away from home to challenge School of the Woods at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. School of the Woods knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Banff likes a good challenge. As for Spring Baptist Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Community Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
