Softball Game Preview: Mineola Yellowjackets vs. White Oak Roughnecks

For the second straight game, Mineola will face off against White Oak. The Yellowjackets will be playing at home against the Roughnecks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mineola's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so White Oak's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mineola will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against White Oak on Thursday. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Roughnecks with a sharp 13-3 victory. Considering the Yellowjackets have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Mahayla McMahon, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Courtney Nguyen, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Mineola is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for White Oak, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-13-1 record this season.
