Football Recap: Manvel Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Manvel lost against Pearland back in September of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mavericks were dealt a 66-14 defeat at the hands of the Oilers. The Mavericks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-14.

Despite the loss, Manvel saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ju'Von Smith forced one fumble and made ten total tackles.

Ja'Maurey Champion continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pearland, rushing for 180 yards and three scores while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. Champion showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 50 yards. Another player making a difference was Jake Westmoreland, who threw for 154 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 passes.

This is the second loss in a row for Manvel and nudges their season record down to 2-3. As for Pearland, their victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.
