Baseball Recap: Thompson Comes Up Short

If Thompson was feeling good fresh off their 9-2 takedown of Spanish Fort on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Thompson Warriors fell just short of the Saraland Spartans by a score of 8-7 on Saturday. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Thompson got a good showing from Josh Tuttle, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, Ma'Kale Holden was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

Thompson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Saraland, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Looking ahead, Thompson will face off against Mobile Christian at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Mobile Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Saraland, they will square off against Baldwin County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
