Soccer Game Preview: Junipero Serra vs. Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory

Junipero Serra and Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory are an even 4-4-2 against one another since January of 2020, but likely not for long. The Junipero Serra Padres will welcome the Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory Fightin' Irish at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Wednesday, Junipero Serra didn't have quite enough to beat Saint Francis and fell 3-2. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Padres came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Lancers are ranked 624th).

Nate Coughlin and Will Hirsch scored both of Junipero Serra's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Meanwhile, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory has been on a difficult stretch since their win on December 3. They fell 2-0 to Bellarmine College Prep on Wednesday.

Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3-3. As for Junipero Serra, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2-1.

Junipero Serra came out on top in a nail-biter against Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, sneaking past 2-1.
