Basketball Game Preview: Temecula Prep Patriots vs. Whittier Cardinals

The Temecula Prep Patriots will challenge the Whittier Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Temecula Prep's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.

Temecula Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past Loma Linda Academy 79-49. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Whittier). They walked away with an 83-75 win over California Lutheran on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Cardinals as they're now sitting on four straight.

Temecula Prep better focus on containing Christopher Heape and Brandon Romo as the pair were huge in Whittier's win. Heape dropped a double-double with 23 points and 12 assists, while Romo posted 26 points. The contest was Romo's third in a row with at least 26 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Niko Caro, who earned 13 points.

Whittier pushed their record up to 17-10 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points over those games. As for Temecula Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-7 record this season.
