Softball Recap: Becton Takes a Loss

If Becton was feeling good fresh off their 16-7 takedown of Lodi last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the North Arlington Vikings on Wednesday. It was the first time this season that the Wildcats let down their fans at home.

Francesca Buda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Becton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nina Buda, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Becton's loss dropped their record down to 4-2-1. As for North Arlington, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Looking ahead, Becton is taking a road trip to face off against Waldwick at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for North Arlington, they will head out to challenge Ridgefield Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
