Softball Game Preview: Pequea Valley Braves vs. Annville-Cleona Dutchmen

Pequea Valley is 2-8 against Annville-Cleona since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Braves will head out to face off against the Dutchmen at 4:15 p.m. Pequea Valley has given up an average of 12.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pequea Valley is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Monday. They lost 12-1 to Lancaster Catholic.

Meanwhile, Annville-Cleona got themselves on the board against Columbia on Monday, but Columbia never followed suit. They blew past the Crimson Tide 21-0. Considering the Dutchmen have won eight games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Zoe Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Breelyn Pulaski was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Savannah Milan was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Annville-Cleona and bumps their season record up to 9-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Pequea Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Pequea Valley suffered a grim 17-3 defeat to Annville-Cleona when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Braves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
