Softball Recap: Bay Path RVT Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Bay Path RVT had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Assabet Valley RVT on Wednesday. The Minutemen blew past the Aztecs 22-7. The Minutemen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by 12 runs or more this season.

Olivia Burgos was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits. Burgos was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gabby Lapan was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Savannah Steiner, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Bay Path RVT kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Bay Path RVT's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Assabet Valley RVT, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Bay Path RVT will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Tantasqua Regional at 4:00 p.m. As for Assabet Valley RVT, they are taking a road trip to square off against Douglas at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
