Bath County is 1-9 against Eastern Montgomery since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Chargers will challenge the Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Bath County will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Parry McCluer, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Chargers blew past the Fighting Blues 19-12 last Tuesday. With that win, the Chargers brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.

I Ingram
I Ingram made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Bath County's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Ingram was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Bath County let W Campbell and O Perdue run wild. Campbell got on base in all six of his plate appearances with five runs, while Perdue went 3-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Bath County is undefeated when Perdue posts two or more runs, but 0-5 otherwise. J Buguess also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Bath County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .521. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Eastern Montgomery got the win against Craig County on Tuesday by a conclusive 20-6. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by seven runs or more this season.
Coltin Conner was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Conner was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Austin Tate was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Marshall Tate was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one double.
Eastern Montgomery is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bath County, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5.
Bath County took their victory against Eastern Montgomery in their previous matchup on April 3rd by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
