Basketball Recap: Sierra Lutheran Takes a Loss

Sierra Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 72-57 bruising from the Portola Tigers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Falcons came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 96th in Nevada, while the Tigers are ranked 667th in California).

Connor Sheridan was his usual excellent self, putting up 32 points for Portola. Sheridan's evening made it 15 games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Magnus Berg, who posted 13 points.

Sierra Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Portola, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Sierra Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-31 loss against Pershing County on the 7th. As for Portola, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 74-61 win against Biggs on the 6th.
