Basketball Recap: Lakewood Comes Up Short

Lakewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 22nd straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 74-64 to the Brighton Bulldogs.

When it comes to explaining why Lakewood lost, don't look at Quentin Wilson. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Wilson a new career-high in assists (four). Marcus Bane was another key player, putting up 22 points.

Austin Sickler continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Brighton, going 12-for-20 to rack up 32 points and five boards. Sickler is becoming a predictor of Brighton's success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 5-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Spotts, who went 7-for-14 en route to 17 points and six rebounds.

Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 0-21. As for Brighton, their record now sits at 12-9.

Lakewood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 90-47 loss against Columbine on the 19th. As for Brighton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 93-71 win against Northglenn on the 18th.
