Softball Recap: Southwest Takes a Loss

Southwest had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Clever Blue Jays, falling 14-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Trojans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Southwest saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacee Durossette, who went 1-for-2 with one triple.

As for Clever, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games.

On Clever's side, they let Autumn Thrasher and Savannah Cheney run wild. Thrasher went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Cheney went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple was Thrasher's first of the season. Taylor Thompson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Looking ahead, Southwest is taking a road trip to challenge East Newton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Clever, they will be playing at home against Mt. Vernon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
