Softball Game Preview: Beallsville Blue Devils vs. Union Local Jets

The Beallsville Blue Devils will venture away from home to challenge the Union Local Jets at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Beallsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Beallsville easily dispatched Paden City on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Blue Devils fell just short of Valley by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, the Blue Devils couldn't push the score so high this time.

Karly Showalter was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Union Local hadn't beaten Bellaire on the road since March 30, 2016 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Jets came out on top against the Big Reds by a score of 9-6.

Union Local is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Beallsville, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Beallsville came up short against Union Local in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 10-5. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
