Baseball Recap: Huffman Sets Scoring Season-High Against Woodlawn

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Huffman). They put the hurt on the Woodlawn Colonels with a sharp 19-5 win on Friday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Huffman got a great performance from Aden Brown as he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, Brown posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

At the plate, Dylan Craig was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Christion Glenn was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Huffman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .634. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Huffman and bumps their season record up to 7-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Woodlawn, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-16.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Huffman will host Shades Valley at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Mounties have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.52 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Woodlawn, they will welcome Jackson-Olin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Colonels are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
