Basketball Game Preview: Bear Creek Grizzlies vs. King's Knights

Bear Creek hasn't had much luck against King recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bear Creek Grizzlies will head out on the road to challenge the King's Knights at 7:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bear Creek comes in on four and King's on seven.

Bear Creek is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Overlake 85-60 on Tuesday. The Grizzlies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 24 points or more this season.

Bear Creek's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Caleb Branch, who went 7-for-13 from beyond the arc on his way to 29 points and three steals, and Max Beiber, who went 9-for-14 en route to 25 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Beiber's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Andrew Liu, who went 6-for-8 to rack up 14 points and five boards.

Bear Creek was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday King's sidestepped Bush for a 62-60 victory. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 75th, while the Blazers are ranked 245th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

King's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points over those games. As for Bear Creek, their record now sits at 18-4.

Bear Creek couldn't quite finish off King's when the teams last played back in January and fell 56-53. Can Bear Creek avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
