Football Recap: North Pontotoc Starts Season with Win Against Booneville

North Pontotoc took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They really took it to the Booneville Blue Devils for the full four quarters, racking up a 35-0 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Vikings had established a 27-point advantage.

North Pontotoc had a senior duo take command as Drew Winfun rushed for 139 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry and Donovan Winfun rushed for 112 yards and two TDs on only 11 carries. Donovan's longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

North Pontotoc was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Booneville only rushed for 89 rushing yards.

North Pontotoc wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 46-0 win against Nettleton on the 5th. As for Booneville, they have also already played their next game, a 35-14 defeat against Baldwyn on the 5th.
