Softball Recap: Soldotna Has No Trouble Against Kodiak

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Soldotna walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Kodiak Bears on Friday. The Stars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

The win made it two in a row for Soldotna and bumps their season record up to 18-4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Kodiak, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 16-9 record.

Looking ahead, Soldotna will challenge Sitka at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Wolves will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Stars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Kodiak, they will square off against Kenai Central at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The Kardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.23 runs per game on average), something the Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of.
