Softball Game Preview: Winchendon Wapiti vs. Cushing Academy Penguins

Winchendon is 0-8 against Cushing Academy since May of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Wapiti will host the Penguins at 4:30 p.m.

Winchendon couldn't beat Kimball Union Academy on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Wapiti came up short against the Wildcats, falling 17-7.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Saturday Cushing Academy sidestepped Westminster School for a 3-2 win.

Brooke Harb was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double. That run marked the first that she has scored this season.

Harb wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bailee StSauveur, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double. Maddie Soderquist also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
