Baseball Recap: Rio Lindo Adventist Wins Going Away Against Roseland Collegiate Prep

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grace Christian Academy, Rio Lindo Adventist was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 21-2 margin over the Roseland Collegiate Prep Grizzlies. The high-scoring effort was just what the Spartans needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Vincent Barcenas and Jhordany Barcenas made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Barcenas tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jhordany struck out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. At bat, Barcenas scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Jhordany scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Jhordany is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lenard Paloma, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Hikaru Maeda, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

The victory got Rio Lindo Adventist back to even at 1-1.

Rio Lindo Adventist will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Roseland Collegiate Prep at 4:30 p.m. on April 7th. As for Roseland Collegiate Prep, they will challenge Summerfield Waldorf at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
