Basketball Recap: Kandace Pargin Key Part of Team Effort in Farmers Win + How To Watch

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Sargent on Saturday. They took down the Montezuma-Cortez Panthers 51-34. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Farmers.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sargent to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kandace Pargin, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 21 points and eight steals. What's more, Pargin also posted a 62% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Angelise Garcia, who posted 11 points along with seven assists and five steals.

Despite the loss, Montezuma-Cortez saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kyndall Schmitt had 11 points. Sariah Jackson was another key player, putting up eight points.

Sargent's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Montezuma-Cortez, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Sargent will be playing at home against Sangre de Cristo at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Montezuma-Cortez, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Belen at 3:00 p.m. on the 18th.
